Refueling with energy food is the key to combating fatigue during a ride. The body only has enough carbohydrate stores to last for around 60-90mins of cycling; when these stores are depleted it becomes much harder for the body to produce energy, forcing the rider to slow. Consuming carbohydrates from the beginning of a ride will help keep your energy stores at the same level, limiting fatigue and maximising performance.
